Once he's powered up, D-REX is ready to start showing off and responding to his surroundings. He'll roar, turn his head, and blink his eyes.pbCool Robotics Technology for Interactive Play/bbr When you pet D-REX on the head, touch sensors let him respond with an appreciative roar. If he seems hungry, you can stick something in his mouth and he'll chomp away on it. And the bone-shaped controller lets you prompt five different types of behavior. Press "attack," and he'll launch forward while roaring. Press "prank," and he'll fart, burp, or roar. In seek mode, he uses a noise sensor to locate you and walk towards you. Due to the room's background noise, we found that he had some difficulty with this task. But it was funny (and kind of cute) when he bumped into walls and backed away in surprise.p Perhaps our favorite mode was "guard." In this mode, you can set D-REX up in front of your bedroom door or your favorite toys and he will scan the room, letting out a big roar if he detects the motion of "intruders." There's even a question mode that lets you replace your out-dated magic eight ball with dinosaur wisdom. Each time you press this button, D-REX will answer a question by nodding "Yes" or shaking his head "No." p D-REX is programmed to respond as a pet with an independent mind. This means that, despite his five-button remote, he won't walk where ever you want him to. Kids who expect to "drive" him around the room like a remote control car may be disappointed, but we actually enjoyed this fact a lot, since it made him more realistic. And we expect that kids who are fascinated by either dinosaurs or robotics will agree with us on this. D-Rex rocks!

This is dinosaur is so realistic! The skin itself is sort of squishy and slimely. When you turn it on the way the eyes move, and the forehead wrinkles you really think it is real! The best toy my son (6) says he received this Christmas.
Christmas Gift

We bought this for our 8 yr old for Christmas. It was fun for the first day or so. The facial expressions are priceless and it is durable and well made. Unfortunately it's abilities to entertain are limited, and once the novelty wore off, it didn't seem worth the price tag. I don't regret the purchase as it was my son's 'big gift' and he is very happy with it, my only regret is that it doesn't do more for what it cost.

A let down

We got this for our 2 boys that are both 5. My son had been asking for this for months. If you asked him what he wanted for Christmas he immediately said D Rex. Since openning it he has played with if for 10 minutes and thats about the same for my step son. It looks great but the function does not live up. The remote response is slow, the seek function does not work well and he does not walk straight. Also the sensor for the guard mode is not that strong. I was thinking of returning them. Cool toy but now worth the price. If it were half the price than it would be worth.

D-REX Interactive Dinosaurbr /We got this for our 7 year old son as his one Big Santa gift. He loves it. It took him a little while to understand that D-Rex has a mind of his own, you can't just push a button and he will do exactly as you want. He has found that D-Rex is terrifying to his girl cousins and loves to get D-Rex to attack. He keeps this toy by his bed at night in the guard mode, thank goodness for the battery saver. Overall I would recommend this toy to anyone with a son that loves Dino's.
