Editorial Review for Barbie® The Diamond Castle Princess Liana Doll
Barbie doll is featured here as Princess Liana from "Barbie and The Diamond Castle" who sings two songs from the movie and wears a mesmerizing glittery gown that magically transforms with the flip of a switch. Her necklace lights up when she sings. Pair her with the Princess Alexa doll, sold separately, to hear beautiful duets. Requires 3 "button-cell" batteries, included. Doll measures 11.5" tall. Barbie takes on a whole new look with the adventurous "Princess Liana" -- the character she plays in the movie "Barbie and the Diamond Castle." This singing Barbie comes with a dress that "magically" transforms from "plain" to "fancy" and has the trademark long, blonde hair that little girls love to brush. With her jeweled purple tiara, this Barbie is sure to delight aspiring princesses age 3 and up--whether or not they've seen the movie. Parents might need to show younger kids how to flip Barbie's dress over with the turn of a knob (the instructions tell you how). You might also need to point out the tiny button that makes Barbie sing a song from "Barbie and the Diamond Castle," but once they know where it is, even little ones will be able to find it quickly. P The stiff material of Barbie's purple, pink, and orange sparkly dress will stand up well to lots of play. Her matching purple, high-heeled shoes, on the other hand, could get easily lost or swallowed. Parents should help with the delicate operation of cutting Barbie's tiara free from the plastic that binds it to Barbie's head. Afterall, every princess likes to take off her crown once in a while!PbA Barbie with Bling/bbr This Barbie has a lot of bling -- from the dress that makes a "bringg" sound when it flips from "plain" to "fancy," to the pendant that lights up during this same operation. Barbie's fancy dress, with a sparkling pink bodice and layers of shimmering orange gauze over pink "silk," will dazzle every girl. Plus, it looks just like the dress that Princess Liana wears in the movie. P Your child will also love being able to remove Barbie's purple tiara with its orange jewel and the purple shoes that perfectly match her dress. If your child has the "Princess Alexa" doll (also based on a character from the movie), the two dolls can sing a special duet together while holding hands. And, of course, how could you forget Barbie's hair? Long, silky, and lustrous, girls will love brushing it with the heart-shaped gold brush that's included.PbA Princess from Head to Toe/bbr We appreciated the whole princess-like package -- the tiara, the sparkly dress, the light-up pendant. Everyone child dreams of being royalty and we think think this singing Barbie will hit just the right note with your own would-be princesses. It would be nice if you could remove her princess dress for those days when Barbie wants a more casual look, but that isn't the case here. We like the hairstyle that Princess Liana sports (with two sections of hair knotted together at the nape of her neck), but we worry that younger girls might accidentally muss it with inadvertent brushing and end up with a bad-hair day for Barbie. These minor criticisms aside, we think this Barbie will be a hit with little girls even if they haven't seen the movie "Barbie and the Diamond Castle." If they have seen it, they'll love their Princess Liana Barbie even more!Pbr clear="all"bWhat's in the Box/bbr Singing"Princess Liana" Barbie with two-in-one dress and light-up pendant, shoes, tiara, and hairbrush. br clear="all"
Customer Reviews for Barbie® The Diamond Castle Princess Liana Doll

Not versitile, loud!
Rating: 2/ 5
My daughter got this for Christmas this year. The barbie plays snippets of tween music (must be from her videos, she sings about feeling protected, etc.), when a button on her hand is pressed. The short pieces of songs get old quickly. Probably aimed at selling the videos. The dress does not turn around easily (you are supposed to twirl the handle in her back), and the pieces are held on with plastic, which looks flimsy. You cannot dress this doll, or really do much with it other than play those awful songs. And when the expensive batteries wear out - watch out! You will have a crying child on your hands. Save your money. If you want a barbie, buy one that can be dressed and posed easily. My daughter rarely plays with this, and she has only had it for a week!

I feel Connected
Rating: 4/ 5
If your daughter(s) love Diamond Castle get it. Mine goes around singing the songs so much she got her older cousin watching it and singing with her:) I knew before I bought it that there was some issues with her clothing and body but my daughter likes it and my niece likes to swing her dress inside out. It looks terrible the other way by the way. I think the only thing good about her changing dress is the little sound it makes when you turn the knob. I hear that a lot of girls prefer Alexa to Liana which is probably a first for Barbie. I don't see why they didn't make the set to match ohh well. I ordered from Amazon I got my Doll for $10.99 I'm ok with that, the kids like it and I'm kinda glad you can't take off her dress. br /

My 4 year old daughter LOVES this doll
Rating: 5/ 5
When I purchased this doll I didn't realize that it sang 2 songs. I gave the doll to my 4 year old daughter for Christmas and she loves it. She walks around the house trying to learn all of the words and sing the songs. The only downside is that you'll walk around with the songs in your head too. br /br /Note - her dress does not come off.

Alexa was a much better buy
Rating: 4/ 5
We got both dolls for Christmas, they are both cute- but Liana wasn't worth it. Like in other reviews it says her legs don't bend and are pink and you can't take the dress off, and our dress doesn't stay down like it does in the pictures. It wouldn't be so bad, but then they stuck a giant screw in her back so you can switch her dress back and forth. If you have the castle with the chairs, then you know that she doesn't sit too well *but still sits* in a chair. Cute doll all and all, but my girls love her.

Pretty, but Disapppointing
Rating: 3/ 5
I bought this doll for my 3-year-old for Christmas. She was happy with it until I tried to show her how to transform the dress. Although the description says her dress transforms "with the touch of a button," it's actually a handle on her back that you turn. The dress looks nice in "princess" mode, but when you change it to the peasant mode only the front three panels flip over. The frame that holds them to her body sticks out so the dress looks odd and the fabric doesn't sit right. Also, my daughter was upset that the back panel didn't change at all and she kept saying it was broken. She finally threw the doll aside and said she didn't like it.br /br /As others have mentioned, the hard plastic pink legs are not like regular Barbie legs. They're the same color as her dress, they're non-bendable, and just odd. I'm sure they made them pink so they're not obvious through the slits in her dress, but I don't understand why they couldn't have used regular rubber legs and either tinted them pink or had tights for her.br /br /It's strange that they would have her dress and legs done in this manner, as the companion doll, Alexa, isn't like this. Her dress functions with Velcro and a drawstring and she has normal legs. br /br /My daughter did start playing with her again after a little while, and she likes to make the two dolls sing together, although they don't actually sync up. You have to push the buttons at the same time to get them to sing together. If you don't push them exactly at the same time then the audio doesn't match up, but she doesn't seem to mind this. It drives me crazy to hear them out of sync, and you'll have "Connected - Protected" running through your head for hours.br /br /Overall, this is a very pretty doll and it does sing, which is what my daughter is most interested in. If you're looking for a pretty princess Barbie then this would work, but if you're interested in the transforming dress I think you'll be pretty disappointed.
